We have just received the sad news that Jonathan sadly died 29th December 2012.
Our thoughts are with his family.
Lynx are doing something at the moment called the Lynx Space Academy, which is a legitimate opportunity to go to space. When I was younger I was desperate to be the first child astronaut and even wrote to NASA! Unfortunately they ignored me but I still harbour a secret obsession with going to space.
The Lynx competition has three rounds. The first is simply voting, the 200 entrants with the most votes go through to the National Challenge, which is a series of competitive physical and mental tests. The winners from the National Challenges will travel to the
Global Space Camp in Florida where there are three training missions including
a flight in a L-39 Albatross MKII jet that goes at twice the speed of sound, a centrifuge machine that simulates the same g-force as re-entering the atmosphere and a parabolic flight that recreates zero gravity. A panel of experts then selects those that have what it takes to actually take a trip into space.
To get through this first voting round I only need to get into the top 200! I started off in 41,000th place on Friday afternoon and am shooting up the leaderboard, already in 287th place with 494 votes. My CEO helped out here by emailing the entire company globally
telling them to vote! My colleagues have even started posting stories online. Every vote
counts and it only takes a few seconds so I am asking you to please please vote
for me and spread the word! I really need as many votes as I can get, if the OWBA and the school could all vote that would be amazing! Here is the link:

We have just received the sad news that Albert Beer 46-53 B passed away on Friday 15th March 2013.
There will be a service of celebration of his life on Thursday 28th March at 2.30pm at Rumney Methodist Church, Wentloog Road, Cardiff CF3 3HD.
Our thoughts go out to his family and friends.
We are very sorry to announce that Stephen passed away on Monday 11th March 2013.
His funeral will be at 2pm on Friday 22nd March at Weston Mill Crematorium, Plymouth http://www.plymouth.gov.uk/westonmillcemetery
Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this very difficult time.
At last week’s OWBA AGM, the new constitution and objectives were approved by those present with the amendment of two additional OWBA members on the Executive. 8 voted in favour, no one voted against. All parties are pleased with the significant progress that has been made. The changes will serve to enhance and strengthen the role of the OWBA.
The Foundation and the Association continue to remain two separate organisations. Everyone, including Past Presidents, are delighted to be moving forward with a common purpose.
Andrew Broggio, President
It is not too late to enter the Exmoor! Please follow the link for the entry form and details! http://www.westbuckland.devon.sch.uk/index.php/foundation/events/exmoor-2013
You are probably not aware, but a resolution has quietly been tabled for the AGM on 7th March 2013 to change the constitution of our great (!) Association.
Before your eyes become heavy and your head droops, you should know this is not some boring administrative update. The proposed new constitution, if adopted, would fundamentally alter the role of our Association (for the worse, in our opinion).
As former members of the OWBA Executive, we have put together an open letter in an attempt to draw your attention to the proposed changes and how they have been conceived, offer our opinion as to why they would be detrimental to both the OWBA and the School, and sincerely urge you to join the debate. \
